REVIEW:

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review from lovers of paranormal.

This book was alright. Not good, not bad, just alright. There were parts that were really good! It made you want to keep reading it, and then there were parts where you just wanted to put the book down.
The characters I feel weren’t really developed all that well, they were just kinda thrown in there for the story. I really wanted to get to know them a bit better. The story line is a good one and I wish that she would have inserted more of it in the actual book so that it flowed better.

The ending sucked. Like really sucked. You know those kids books where your reading and its really good and then all of a sudden you see THE END. Yah that’s what I think of this ending.

Of all of the angel books that I have read this one is fairly close to the bottom. It was to quick, wasn’t developed enough, tons of grammatical errors and typos. But after you get through all of that still not a bad read.

Shadow Flesh and Forget Me Not by Shawn Martin (Review and Purchase links)

Shadowflesh

Shadowflesh

By: Shawn Martin

Synopsis Via Goodreads

Torn from her home and fighting bouts of suicidal depression, seventeen-year-old Aileen McCormick lands in the small coastal town of Redcliff, North Carolina. Her first day of school promises to be the worst day of her life when a menacing group of boys targets the new girl. A stiff arm shoves Aileen into the arms of Addison Wake. When he catches her, Aileen knows she will never be the same. Addison’s otherworldly charm and drop-dead gorgeous face leave her breathless, but only for a moment. Grim and painful secrets lurk in his dark soul.

Addison Wake isn’t exactly like other boys. Far from it. He’s dead and has been for 300 years, locked in an ethereal prison by a lethal enchantress named Donelle. When she hungers, she blesses Addison’s tortured spirit with moments of freedom, allowing him to roam the mortal world as Shadowflesh. But that dark blessing comes at a price. He must deliver the souls of five unsuspecting humans to Donelle.

Knowing he’s here only for a short amount of time, Addison refuses to let himself fall in love and break Aileen’s already fractured heart. He pushes her into the arms of another, but destiny throws the two shadowy lovers back together. In the darkness of her room, Addison confesses his love and his deadly secret to Aileen.

When four dead bodies pop up in Redcliff, Aileen asks herself is her love for the mysterious boy unconditional? Is the love worth the risk? And will she be the next victim?

My Review:

This is a spooky, Gothic kind of romance that just might never end up as a happy ending. This is the beginning of a series that I think will do very very well! There’s just enough action, and romance, angst and danger to make it interesting. The flow to this book is fantastic also, its one of those… “I have to go to bed! But no you must read another chapter!!!”  Kind of books. The characters were very well developed and were full of personality, the conflict in this story was also very well developed and is an actual conflict, not one of those pretend ones that make you shake your head. And the romance of this book, it’s one of those forbidden romances. It’s quite breathtaking.  Over all I am quite looking forward to continuing this series to see where the story plays out! There is a whole world of potential with this series! So exciting!

My Review

I was given this book in exchange for an Honest review by the Author Shawn Martin and Bostick Communications.

First off I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book. This is book 2 in the Shadowflesh series, and deals with the same characters only a different twist of events. What would you do if you forgot one thing?? Something so important to you that you would be willing to risk your life for it? I honestly don’t know what I would do to tell you the truth.  Now that being said, this book is fantastic! It mirrors the first novel to the extent of where the characters are the same spunky amazing characters that have so much personality that they are reeking of it. And there is conflict, oh is there a hell of a conflict. There is romance (it is pg romance though) and the descriptions in this book are amazing. The flow was really nice and smooth and I didn’t find any real hiccups in it at all. The only thing I’m wondering is why more people haven’t read this. It was released March 31 of this year and there are NO reviews on Goodreads for it yet!! Have no fear though, I will be more then happy to remedy that for him!

Once again, it was an absolute pleasure reading this book for this review!

The Wanderers (The Wanderers #1)

by Jessica Miller (Goodreads Author)
Goodreads Synopsis

What do you do when you learn your family is the one who’s holding all the secrets? Secrets that could get you killed…

Ella is looking forward to starting college in the fall with her best friend Josie. She’s looking for a place where she can get away from her overbearing parents and two older annoying brothers. Unfortunately Ella realizes that sometimes the past comes back to haunt you.

Ella soon learns that the man who terrorizes her dreams is in fact real and coming after her.

When one of her classmates is murdered, Ella slowly recognizes this is not some strange coincidence. Ella fears that the boy she’s falling in love with is the one who stalks her dreams and no longer knows who she can trust.

When she finally learns the truth of her family’s deepest secret, Ella has to face her demons by taking out one of the people she thought she could trust…before they kill her.

My Review/Thoughts: I was given this book from the author and from Lovers of Paranormal (LOP) in exchange for an honest review.

Where to start? This is a pretty damn good book! There is a huge layer of different forms of emotions just swirling everywhere, from different people, the events that take place, everything. Jessica Miller has a certain way with words that make you get into these characters as if you are watching it happening right there. You get to feel what they are feeling. Experience it all. Its quite an amazing feet to make me be able to do that by just reading words on pages.

As I got this book from an amazing paranormal group (LOP) you obviously know that this book is a paranormal style book. Only it isn’t. You get the feel that something out there is paranormal but its 3/4 of the way into the book that you finally find out why and you know what? I Love that about this! I love that there is a back story to these characters BEFORE we find out what they are. So they have a personality, they have a past they have ATTITUDE. You get to meet the person, before everything goes down. It was very refreshing. I have since finished everything Jessica Miller has written for this series so  far and I have to say that I’m just wanting to read the next installment now! I can’t wait until the 4th book is published and I can get my greedy hands on it.

This author is going places. And she’ll be going places fast. I would pay more then just a dollar for this book. I would have gladly paid 13. Just sayin.

Reborn (The Wanderers #2)

Goodreads Synopsis

Her mission is to keep herself blended in the background and out of trouble, but unfortunately Ella isn’t that lucky. Even the school’s sweetheart has it in for her.

Can she overcome her fear of the unknown? Will she ever learn to accept who she is? The most important thing Ella is concerned about is just surviving the semester at Hamilton Hill.

My review/Thoughts: I was given this book in exchange for an honest review from the author Jessica Miller and the group Lovers of Paranormal (lop). This book was just as good as the first one, only a touch more paranormal. When I say a touch more, its more human then anything but you know something is up. Its a paranormal book after all. The characters in this are flawless, and I honestly have a hard time putting this book down. There is something about this story that just captives you and just draws you right in. Its magical really. The plot of this is amazing, descriptions are spot on. It’s almost like being there yourself that you get to experience everything all first hand. It takes real skill for a book to be able to do that for me. Each of these books I have noticed makes you emotionally invested in each of the characters. You get to know them, and you get to basically feel what they are feeling. They are beautifully written. The area where these characters are living you get the feel of that too. Its amazing. I love these books and again can’t wait for the next one!

My Review/thoughts:

I was given this book from the author Jessica Miller and by Lovers of Paranormal (LOP) in exchange for an honest review.

I am reeling with so many emotions right now, that are right there at the surface and just want to explode out of me. I have so many questions. The main one here is WHY???? Why would you leave such a cliff hanger when there isn’t another book for me to read?? I mean really??? I MUST READ MORE! It has been so long since I craved to read another story in a series and this one just takes the cake. It is the perfect series. I loved every second of it. I had issues putting the book down to sleep. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to scream and throw my tablet up against the wall. I didn’t want this book to end. I wanted to just keep turning more and more pages, trying to digest everything that happened. Even now as I’m typing I’m left with that lingering feeling that I just want to start reading this series again right from the beginning. I cannot wait until the next book comes out. And don’t dauddle. You have a fan here that needs her fix. (this review is a direct copy and paste from my goodreads review as it pretty much nails it right on the head with how I’m feeling about these books) I would pay 13 bucks for each of these books. Probably more actually as they are that good. They are really under valued at the 2.99 amazon has them at and you should go and grab them as that is a steal of a price!!

Ember and Cinder (Review and Purchase links)

Review and Purchase link coming within one week!

Synopsis via Goodreads: (YA version)
What if you knew when someone was going to die?
For seventeen-year-old Ember, life is death. With a simple touch, she knows when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person who knows her secret is her best friend Raven.
Then she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous, mysterious, and is the only person Ember can’t sense death from. So when he pushes into her life, she doesn’t mind. But when unexplained deaths start to haunt her town, Ember starts questioning why she can’t sense Asher’s death and what he may be hiding.

My Review: I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was a pretty damn good book, it kept me entertained and engaged in the characters. There was description and depth, there was emotion. There was everything that I hold near and dear in a good story. It was also about Death angels, and grim angels and grim reapers… Seriously how cool is that? I honestly love books like this. I also read the “New adult” version Ember-X to see how different it really was from the original YA version, and honestly its the exact same story, only there is a little bit of naughty in it. But its done tastefully. Jessica Sorensen from what I can tell has a really good knack at writing books like this, where she can do a YA and a Adult version. Love it!!

Synopsis via Goodreads: (YA Version)  Until Asher Morgan came along, nineteen-year old Ember’s life had always been about death. Being around Asher, though, and being able to be near him and touch him, changed her and made her feel alive for the very first time. But now he’s gone and she’s left dealing with her seclusion again, the emptiness of not being able to be touched, and the curse of the Grim Angel.

As a battle breaks out between Angels and Reapers, she desperately searches for answers about who she is, where she came from, and what she needs to stop the battle. But things get complicated when Cameron returns to her life and begins messing with her thoughts and emotions.

Ember tries to hold onto her sanity while the line between life and death begins to blur. Lives are threatened and taken. Murder is everywhere. She needs to figure out what’s real, what’s an illusion, and who she really has feelings for before it’s too late.

My Review : I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. You know the one thing I really hate about a series…. is when not all of the books are released so that I can just plow through them. I LOVED this book. I read it in 4 hours, if that. It was that good, it was a great pace, great dialog, great emotion, well you get the drift. It was just a fantastic book! I love how you can get so lost into a story that nothing seems to happen around you. Next thing you know, page after page your just more lost in the story. I loved the length of this book, it wasn’t to short so that it pissed me off and yet it wasn’t to long that I happened to lose interest in it. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I’m so excited to find out what happens!!

I also read the New Adult version of this book and again the only read differences is that it can get a tiny bit naughty. But its done very tasteful. I would read another adult book of hers as it just doesn’t feel like smut yah know? SUPPORT YOUR INDIE AUTHORS!!!!

Before I get started I have to tell you that I thought really long and hard about posting this review, as it is pretty much nothing but negative. Which sucks. But I promised myself that I would give 100% honesty in my blogging so it is what it is. In no way what so ever, do my comments on my blog effect the other or her standpoints in her book. The Guardians (The Guardians, #1)
by Jennifer Raygoza (Goodreads Author)

I was given this book from lovers of paranormal (LOP) and the author is exchange for an honest review.

I’m sorry. I really am. This book only received 1.5 stars out of 5 due to the fact that it is extremely rushed, there is like no depth to the story at all, and you don’t really know the characters. I mean really? Run on sentences, horrible grammar and punctuation and there were spelling mistakes in there too. I seriously feel bad about reviewing this book. I hated the fact that the book would start to get interesting, and yes Amber read another sentence its going to get great soon, and then nope. BOMB! I’m going to read book 2 just because I did sign up for the ARC, and I seriously hope that the second book far surpasses the first book. I will go into it with an open mind and hope for the best.

Thanks for letting me read and review this, but seriously you probably shouldn’t have.

The Revalation (The guardians part 2)

By Jennifer Raygoza

I was given this book from lovers of paranormal LOP for an honest review. Please note these are my opinions and do not reflect the author in anyway.

This book got a bump up from the last one to 2 stars, for the sheer fact that it went by fast. I don’t know if it was my tablet messing up or what, but every new chapter, the spelling was messed up. It really put a damper on things honestly. I think, that if you smooshed both books together, and elaborated on it a bit more, give your characters back story, this might of actually been a good book.

As it is, things were much to fast for my liking, characters are lacking and there is little to no description. And the ending, sigh. I really really hate endings like that.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I start? This is the very first book in a very longtime that I have given 5 stars too. The characters are fantastic, the plot in this, is fantastic. The story just flows like a river, with nothing stopping it. I loved this book. I even loved the ending where you know for a fact that there is going to be a book two, but the best part about this book?? Was that I got emotionally invested in these characters. I CAN’T WAIT to get my hands on book 2 ( seriously hurry up and write it! ) I can’t sing the praises enough for this novel/series. It was that good.

Thank you so much for allowing me to read this, it was a highlight in my week, I had to force myself to put it down, so that I didn’t digest it in just one sitting. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Awakening and Sacred by Samantha Long (review and purchase links)

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review from lovers of paranormal (linked) and the author Samantha Long (linked)

So this book started off really strange. Everyone was just kinda thrown into a setting and just right into action, there wasn’t really that much an introduction. The first 3 chapters are kind of a haze to me. The story and the characters of this book are very well written, you can tell that the author has invested a lot of time and emotion into this book, and its very much appreciated. What I didn’t like about this book though was the ending. I really hate cliffhangers like that. I don’t just walk up to the ledge and jump and not know what happens afterwards, it really bugged me. Bugged me enough that I was very happy that I had the second book already ready to go 🙂

Thank you for this opportunity!! I thoroughly enjoyed your books!

I was given this ebook for an honest review by lovers of paranormal (linked) and the author Samantha Long (linked).

I really enjoyed this book! It started off the first chapter reviewing what happened in book one in short form WHICH I LOVE BY THE WAY, and then just gets right down and continues the story line! This book I have to say though, was a little bit confusing, my head is still kinda muddled up because of it. This book almost seemed bi-polar in the way that it was written. There would be times when she started writing what seems to be a major part of the story, only to pull away literally right away! It kinda drove me a bit nuts. The ending of this book wasn’t nearly as bad as the first one though, no I’m going to jump off of this cliff see what happens in the next book… no she actually give a teeny tiny snit bit of information on the next book before she ends it, leaving the readers to be excited for the continuation of this series.

Overall a very good read and I can’t wait to read the next one whenever its released!

When Jenny has the opportunity to spend the summer with her sister, a small slice of freedom is all she’s really hoping for when she has the opportunity to spend the summer with her sister. Instead she finds something else altogether: electricity.

That’s what Jenny feels when she looks at Arram. She knows he’s drawn to her too, but the mage-in-training does his best to hide it.

Stung, Jenny turns to Arram’s former best friend, Jack. But Arram and Jack’s rivalry is much darker than Jenny suspects, and so are Jack’s intentions. Soon she’s caught in a mystery of old murder, ancient prophecies, and magic hidden where no one has thought to look.

When Jenny uncovers a secret magic, she is offered two choices. Arram wants her to do the safe thing. Jack wants to show her the easy way out. Whatever Jenny decides, her life will irrevocably change.

Either way, freedom may be the one thing Jenny can never have.

Excerpt

Jack put his finger to his lips and motioned toward an empty bedroom across the hall. Not knowing what else to do, she went in, her heart thudding against her ribs. “Jack,” she whispered. “What are you doing here? How did you get in?”

“What? No welcome home kiss?” His voice was mocking.

Trying to keep her voice steady, she said, “So Arram was right. You do want to kidnap me after all.”

“Kidnap you?” Jack looked horrified. Underneath the horror though, Jenny could see that his eyes were sparkling with mischief. “I should have known Arram would fill your head with something stupid like that. No, you wonderful, impossible girl, I’m here to rescue you.”

Gabe is finally forced to answer the ultimate question, will he give his life to save the world? What about just to save the one he loves the most? The Guardians struggle to find another way–ideas that don’t involve Gabe’s death–to defeat Baal. Time is running out. What will Gabe choose? What price will he pay for that choice?

As Michael watched her speak, he swallowed hard, remembering in that moment it was more than her beauty he had fallen in love with. “I don’t know what to do,” he replied, his words barely audible.

“People need hope Michael, as much as they need a leader. You and Gabe are the answer to both of those things. You’ll lead the people of earth to victory and Gabe will give them the hope they need to keep going,” Mirada said, her voice sensitive, yet unwavering.

“I don’t know if I can,” For the first time in Michael’s life he was completely unsure of what he should do. He had lost all sense of purpose.

“You can, and I’ll be at your side every step of the way,” she said with a smile.

“Are you serious?” Michael asked, his heart now racing.

Falling to her knees she embraced him, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss. She pulled away, looking into his eyes. “I’m never going to leave your side again.”

Michael felt as if his heart might burst. With the death of the council he had felt as though he had lost everything that mattered to him, but here in his arms, he found the last piece of hope he had left in the world. “We have to go back and help Gabe.”

“Why, what’s wrong with Gabe?” Mirada asked.

“They found a book that says the guardians crown is real,” Michael explained.

“Well it is real, or it was,” Mirada stated, staring back at Michael.

Michael watched as she rose, taking a seat next to him on the bed and wrapping her fingers around his. “What do you mean it was?” he asked.

What does Mirada know that nobody else seems to? Read The Guardians Crown to find out if The Guardians have a chance to change their fate or simply must face their destiny.

Gabe’s world was forever altered by the people he came to know and love at Rampart Manor. Although, it wasn’t only his life that was changed when he made the choice to leave them all behind. During his five year absence, they each had a battle with personal demons. Dina is faced with a moral dilemma, the path of good leading to certain heartbreak, or evil, and a possibility of happiness. Uri meets a mysterious woman who seems to have a lot of the answers that he has been searching for, and she certainly has a place in his heart, if he can only hold onto her. Sophie is faced with choices she never knew would be so difficult. The question now is: will the personal demons of the remaining Guardians of Rampart be too much for them to overcome?

The smoke stung at the corners of Uri’s eyes as he struggled to open them. He could hear the battle sounds all around him and smell the iron from the blood drenched warfare in the air. Much to his surprise, death had not yet claimed him. He could feel Raimie’s body under his own, no warmth came from him, however, and Uri feared the worse. Over his shoulder, he heard a large blast and the earth shook under him.

The trackers had obviously followed someone through. There were hundreds of designated transportation locations as part of the evacuation drill. Absolutely nobody was allowed to transport directly to a primary facility for this exact reason. If a tracker were to follow your transportation signature to the next facility, the Guardians could be nearly wiped out in one night. The secrecy of the facilities and cloaking spells were key in their safety.

Uri knew if he or Raimie had any chance of surviving, he needed to get clear of the fighting and find a healer. Attempting to sit up, he braced his weight on the earth just beside Raimie’s head. He quickly reconsidered as the unbearable pain shot through his side. Running his hand down to the source, he could feel the shaft of an arrow jutting out from his side; a warm wetness covered his fingertips.

In the distance, Uri could hear someone crying out in agony, not a voice he recognized, yet the pain in it seemed all too familiar. Another blast rang out from behind him as Uri slumped to the ground, groaning in pain.

Closing his eyes, Uri thought of any place other than where he was. Focusing the last bit of strength he had, and holding firmly onto Raimie, Uri attempted to transport them again. Nothing happened. Frantically, he tried again, receiving the same results. With his injuries, he did not have enough strength to transport them both.

The thought of abandoning his friend to save himself was never an option. He collapsed, pushing even closer to Raimie. Pressing his lips against his friend’s ear, he whispered, “As good a day to die as any.” He would defend them until his end.

The sound of a blade cutting through the air and piercing flesh shot out, followed by a groan and gurgling sound. Uri reached to his side, gripping the blade mounted there. With his injury, he wouldn’t likely be able to deliver a killing blow, but he was certain he would still be able to do a significant amount of injury.

Uri waited patiently for the assailant to come closer; the smoke was still thick and his vision obscured. He could still hear the slashing, the crunching of bones as they shattered under the pressure of the warrior’s attack. His chest ached as he wondered how many of his brothers were falling victim to the legions of demons that day. He could feel in his bones that the loss was great.

Slightly arching his back, squinting his watering eyes, Uri attempted to get a good look at the beast that approached. A gasp caught in his throat, he had been wrong; it was not a demon soldier at all that had been approaching them. It was a woman he had never seen before, but something still felt familiar as she approached. She was slashing through the demons as though they were overgrown jungle brush, a mere irritant in her way.
